It was a joy to see all the kids of Carlisle enjoying all the games, inflatables, and fun that Railroad Days had to offer. This year they rearranged the booths and the paths that made things more convenient and stand out more!
The stage was assembled in a perfect place for lawn seating and was more strategic for the audience! All in all what a great year!
Thank you to all that made this year's festivities happen for our great city!!
Enjoy just a few pictures of this year's Railroad Days!
Directly from the City of Carlisle Website:
The City of Carlisle has instituted the CodeRED Emergency Notification System - an ultra high-speed telephone communication service for emergency notifications. This system allows us to telephone all or targeted areas of the City in case of an emergency situation that requires immediate action (such as a boil-water notice, missing child or evacuation notices).
The system is capable of dialing 50,000 phone numbers per hour. It then delivers our recorded message to a live person or an answering machine, making three attempts to connect to any number.
THIS SYSTEM WILL ONLY BE USED FOR EMERGENCY PURPOSES.
Examples of times when the CodeRED system could be utilized:
- Drinking water contamination
- Utility outage
- Evacuation notice & route
- Missing person
- Fires or Floods
- Bomb threat
- Hostage situation
- Chemical spill or Gas leak
- and other emergency incidents where rapid and accurate notification is essential for life safety.
This is the most activity we have seen in the City Council election in what we can tell the history of Carlisle. There has been much chatter, gossip, and competitiveness already coming out of the challenges for this election year. Hold on to your seats it will be a wild election year in the City of Carlisle.
Bottom line though is this, everyone in Carlisle needs to take it upon themselves to be educated on the candidates and be sure to actually go out and VOTE!!! Let's make this not only a historic amount of candidates but a historic amount of VOTERS!! BE INFORMED AND VOTE!!
Mayor Tim Humphries has told us that four years ago all the seats of City Council were unopposed and this will generate potential new changes to the face of our City Council.
Carrie Branson did not turn her petition in and bowed out of a race against her two challengers for Ward 2, Scott Boschert and Sharon Shelton.
Here are the City Council races as they have been turned in:
Chad Johnson (www.votechadjohnson.com) and Cheryl Sweezy are challenging incucumbent Dennis Bowles in the At Large Seat.
Bryan Green (www.votebryangreen.com) will challenge Mary Thompson, who has served the community for 20 years at the Ward 1 seat.
Richard "Rich" Smith will challenge Randal "Randy" Winkler, who has served 8 years at the Ward 3 seat.
Chad Johnson organized a meet and greet the At Large candidates last night at the Whistle Stop as previously reported by Carlisle Daily. We will post an article later today on how that meeting went.

He has obviously served in a key position in the City. We wish Mr. Wallace the best as he moves on in his life and wish him well in his endeavors.
We will keep the City posted as we hear how and when the City plans on dealing with his departure and potential candidates that will arise.
The resignation is effective Sept. 1, 2009.
If you didn't hear or missed the opportunity the City hosted a "Community Night Out" this past Saturday night. The original date was rained out from a week ago and rescheduled this past Saturday, August 1st at Roscoe Roof Park.
Carlisle Daily stopped by for a few minutes and mingled with the crowd and was able to talk with many familiar faces and some new. It was a great event hosted by the City and City Council. Many of the members of council were present along with a few that are running for City Council. The Fire Department, Police Department, and Franklin Township departments were present, as well.
The City was giving out free hot dogs and water, providing hayrides for the family, games for the kids, and cornhole for all ages. It was a great night to just get out and hang out with other residents of Carlisle.
There was also a booth set up by Western Southern Financial Group for Children's Fingerprinting kits and many families were taking advantage of this free service. It is safe to say that you have not been able to get your children fixed up with a fingerprint kit somewhere, please do not hesitate and do it for the safety of them. Thanks to Western Southern for providing this FREE service to our community's children.
The City of Franklin, also, brought over their Fire Safety House for families to gain knowledge and information about Fire Safety in your home and area.
All in all it was a fantastic opportunity to take advantage of some FREE fun in these times were many families are tight on money and getting a night out or a vacation is extremely costly.
Thanks to the City and its Council for providing this FREE event to the community! Hopefully, we will see more events such as these to take advantage of and that it will be heavily promoted so that the entire community can be involved.
