Warren County Contested Primary Candidates’ Forum April 13

LEBANON--Candidates facing challengers in the May 4 Primary Election have been invited to an April 13 forum to present their platforms and answer residents' questions.

The event, sponsored by the seven Warren County chambers of commerce and Area Progress Council of Warren County, will be Tuesday, April 13, from 5:30 to 9:30 p.m. at the Warren County Career Center.

The evening will not be a debate, but instead will follow a timed, structured format where candidates will answer voter-solicited questions. Moderators for the event will be Konrad Karcher and Mike McMurray.

Attendees will have the opportunity to hear candidates for Warren County Commissioner, Warren County Auditor, Ohio 7th Senate District, Ohio 35th House District, US 2nd Congressional District, and the US 3rd Congressional District.

The seven chambers of commerce serving Warren County are the Carlisle Chamber of Commerce, the Franklin Area Chamber of Commerce, the Little Miami Chamber of Commerce, the Lebanon Area Chamber of Commerce, Northeast Cincinnati Chamber of Commerce, Springboro Chamber of Commerce, and the Waynesville Chamber of Commerce.

The event is open to the public.

This week there has been some articles written that Ed Richter has published with the Middletown Journal.  I swear the City of Carlisle is keeping this man in business.  He is staying busy covering all the mishaps and issues going on in Carlisle.  This week he has tossed up completion  on one subject and a continuing desire to report on the other.  He has probably seen a small little notch in his traffic from our Carlisle Daily site, as well.

The completion of one subject this week is, Carlisle Police Chief Tim Boggess has resigned.  Richter claims there are many stipulations to his resignation.  You can read those by clicking here to his story.  I will try to see if I can get any more details of what is going on and report at a later time.

Then there is the continued desire to follow Tim Humphries.  Now a small percentage of our community truly thought this site was being done by our Mayor and that if he wasn't doing it then he had someone doing it for him.  Not sure their reasoning.  I have been accused of being in the Mayor's back pocket.  If there is anyone in our Mayor's back pocket right now it is Ed Richter.  He has reported from our last City Council meeting that Mayor Tim Humphries has asked for his computer that was seized by authorities awhile back.  Richter was able to capture the ambiance of the Council Meeting and I will, as the poor blogger, try to obtain more facts and give you something later this weekend.  If you want to read Richter's story about our Mayor click here!

There has been much to wonder why Carlisle Daily did not tackle some of the major issues that have surfaced recently in our community.  So being just a one person blogger with not much concern of proper grammar that some might like to see, I have created three reasons why I have not.

1.  I didn't want too, plain and simple.  It could have helped ignite visits to the site that would have been off the chart allowing me to be able to show some pretty lofty traffic numbers to advertisers and sponsors.  But the simple fact that I did not even want to address the issues is the biggest reason.  With my limited time I wanted to make sure I was doing this site for the right reason.

Now let's say if I wanted to...

2.  I did not have time.  I am just now going full time with this site.  It has only been live since May 2009.  I have been blessed with some writers, photographers, and video guys to lend some things here and there but primarily it has been me, a full time job, and a full time family trying to produce these articles.  The issues we have had in our community truly would need a full time investigative reporter gathering pretty hard facts before they decided to flaunt their articles to the world.  I did not have that time nor the means to hire someone who could.  Therefore it is not proper for us to blog about things we do not know!

3.  The He said, She said game.  This would be the biggest reason for not even posting anything about the issues that have arised in Carlisle.  We all know our roots and sometimes they are rotten.  The He said, She said would have been easy to publish.  Again, this would have also inflated my traffic therefore giving me a great deal of popularity.

Call me old fashion though...I would rather read about facts and not the Enquirer.  I am a nerd that way.  And I believe if you are going to report on issues as large as the ones we have seen in Carlisle you better have all your i's dotted and t's crossed.  If not, then why report on He said, She said!

This however, has caused me to think about the future of CarlisleDaily.com and TheVoiceofMiamiValley.com.  It has given me inspiration to get out and start really giving this site a chance.  I am going full time and going to work on getting to every meeting, school event, and business ventures that I can so that our Community has a true source of information, news, school sports, and anything else I can tackle.

Thank you all for your readership and support of the site!  Look for awesome things in 2010!!
