Picnic tableImage via Wikipedia

Sources tell us that this morning one of the picnic tables at Roscoe Roof Park had been burnt and was still smoldering as of this morning.

We are not sure if it was intentionally set on fire or was by accident but yet it still is damage to a park that is widely used by our residents for Birthday parties, family reunions, and other gatherings. The park is also used by many as a wonderful walk or jog on the walking path that goes around the entire perimeter of the park.

If this was indeed some vandalism, it is a shame. Why does it seem okay to even children or whoever to damage city property in this way. We commend the city and their effort to provide such a nice place for the residents. Yet, some seem not to care and cause damage.

Such a pity and hopefully the police department begins to patrol with more awareness with these types of acts and the breaking and entering of cars in neighborhoods, as reported last week, in our Lock your doors at night....article.

Are these incidents random? Are they from summer boredom with our youth? What do you think? Carlisle Daily would love to hear your comments. Click here to let us know.

The complaint should be on file at P.D. ref: People in parking area off Easter Dr. at nite. Where are the Carlisle Police at nite? (in Franklin, Ohio I've heard) and why is that???? (bored) Franklin don't need Carlisle's help.

I do tend to think that a lot of the things that have been happening in the last couple weeks are boredom related. It seems like there is not enough for them to do during the summer months. So many families have both parents working during the day and that leaves a lot of kids with no supervision. I would like to se some more organized activities for kids to participate in while on summer vacation.

maybe the would-be vandals could enjoy a leisurely stroll around the lovely path that encircles Roscoe Roof park. Wouldn't that be swell?

Maybe if the park board people would put on some summer dances in the parks for the kids to give them something to look forward too every weekend the kids wouldn't burn the place down. OR maybe they could show free movies and sell popcorn, pop, etc. at the dances and movies. NAH! That would benefit the citizens and kill the grass that toddlers aren't allowed to practice T-BALL on. Boy O Boy I can't wait till Nov election to get two new (non-voting council people)on that park board, what a breath of fresh air that will be. Maybe then the people will be able to enjoy the parks with less restrictions.
