Just a reminder that the first City Hall Meeting of the month is tonight, April 13, 2010 at 7pm at the City Building.  If you want to be apart of your city and involved in the meeting the public is encouraged and invited to attend!

This week there has been some articles written that Ed Richter has published with the Middletown Journal.  I swear the City of Carlisle is keeping this man in business.  He is staying busy covering all the mishaps and issues going on in Carlisle.  This week he has tossed up completion  on one subject and a continuing desire to report on the other.  He has probably seen a small little notch in his traffic from our Carlisle Daily site, as well.

The completion of one subject this week is, Carlisle Police Chief Tim Boggess has resigned.  Richter claims there are many stipulations to his resignation.  You can read those by clicking here to his story.  I will try to see if I can get any more details of what is going on and report at a later time.

Then there is the continued desire to follow Tim Humphries.  Now a small percentage of our community truly thought this site was being done by our Mayor and that if he wasn't doing it then he had someone doing it for him.  Not sure their reasoning.  I have been accused of being in the Mayor's back pocket.  If there is anyone in our Mayor's back pocket right now it is Ed Richter.  He has reported from our last City Council meeting that Mayor Tim Humphries has asked for his computer that was seized by authorities awhile back.  Richter was able to capture the ambiance of the Council Meeting and I will, as the poor blogger, try to obtain more facts and give you something later this weekend.  If you want to read Richter's story about our Mayor click here!

Due to the current and predicted weather situation, the Carlisle Mayor's Court has been CANCELLED for Wednesday, February 10th.

Scott Boschert, newly elected of Ward 2 City Council Seat has released an official statement to the residents and City of Carlisle.

I would like to thank all of the residents of Carlisle, who put their trust and confidence in me. I promise to do my very best to serve Carlisle and move our city forward. There is a lot of work to be done and issues to overcome and I am very excited about getting started. I will do all I can to make you proud and will fight to make Carlisle an even better city. Also, I would like to let everyone know that I will begin to work on the issues that were presented to me as I was out campaigning door to door. A big thank you goes out to my family and friends for their support and hard work; I could not have done this without you.

Chad Johnson, newly elected At Large Council Seat has released an official statement to the residents and City of Carlisle.

The City Council seat belongs to the community. It is a tool that we have;
to be sure everyone gets a voice. People that cast a vote have extended
some piece of their trust and confidence. I am truly humbled by this idea.

Bryan Green, newly elected of Ward 1 City Council Seat has released an official statement to the residents and City of Carlisle.

I would like to thank the citizens of Carlisle for entrusting me with this position. There is a lot of work ahead and I am anxious to get started. I hold fast to the belief that our system of government is a representative one. With that in mind, I look forward to hearing from those I serve so I can represent their ideas for a better Carlisle. Thank you to all those family and friends who volunteered their time and energies to see the idea of this positive step for our city become a reality.

There was no change with the representation of the Franklin Township Trustees. 
Ron Ruppert and Beth Callahan both won and kept their seats as Trustees.

There is a changing of the guard in Carlisle. The results so far have three new 
City Council members for the City of Carlisle.
 
In the At Large Council Seat Chad Johnson defeated incumbent Dennis Bowles 
with close to 65% of the votes. Dennis has served the City of Carlisle on 
Council for 17 years.
   
In Ward 1, Carlisle has decided to "GO GREEN".  Bryan Green has defeated Mary Ann
Thompson with 55% of the votes.  It was a close race but Green pulled it out.
Mary Ann Thompson has served our City for 20 years in various roles in City Council
and as Deputy Mayor.
   
In Ward 2, Carrie Branson had served 10 years and stepped down to devote more time
to her family.  With Ward 2 wide open for Sharon Shelton and Scott Boschert, 
Boschert took the seat with 62% of the votes.
   
Ward 3 there was no change of guard.  Randy Winkler kept his seat with a commanding
70% of the votes over Rich Smith.

Deputy Mayor and Ward 1 City Council Member Mary Ann Thompson is looking for your vote for re-election on November 3rd!!

Dear Citizens of Carlisle,

For the last 20 years it has been my honor to serve as your City Council Representative for Ward 1, with the last 6 years as your Deputy Mayor. I can only express my gratitude and the rewards I have felt in being able to be a part of and make a difference in helping guide the City of Carlisle to new heights. During my tenure as your City Council Ward 1 representative, I have also served in many other capacities to grow this great city.

Part of my role as your City Council Representative and Deputy Mayor is to make sure this great city prospers among the numerous cities located in Warren County and the State of Ohio. I was appointed 3 years ago as one of 3 Ohio representatives to serve on the National Human Development Steering Committee. This year I was also appointed to serve as Carlisle’s representative on the National Small Cities Council. Serving on these National Committees brings us additional knowledge and helps Carlisle solve similar problems while bringing recognition to our city on a National level.

All incumbents, including myself, have managed to keep our city in a positive financial position relative to the economic challenges facing many communities today. I think the decisions and actions made have always shown that heartfelt commitment to this community. We hope everyone feels that it is in the best interest of the community to keep experienced Council Members, so that we can continue down the path to what we all want - a great place to call home.

I am extremely proud of our community and want to continue to be a part of its growth.

Mary Ann Thompson

Deputy Mayor, City of Carlisle

There has been no official determination on the Fire Chief front but there is much speculation and rumor, so far. In the last City Council meeting, Jim Lukas City Manager of Franklin was present and the speculation, from what, we have heard, was that the Fire discussions would be a hot topic during the council meeting.

From what we have seen from online and from certain people in public attendance it was not discussed openly. Rumor has it that the City officials for Carlisle made it known that Carlisle has made their decisions on how they would replace recently resigned Fire Chief, Greg Wallace and proceed with the current Fire Department situation.

The rumor is that Carlisle is looking to hire a part time Fire Chief, part time. That fire chief would be current full time Fire Chief Michael Hannigan of Lebanon Fire Department. Rumor has it he will keep his full time position with Lebanon and serve part time as Chief of Carlisle's volunteer fire department.

***UPDATE*** Rumor is Fire Captain from Lebanon, Kristy Wyatt, not Fire Chief Hannigan.***

So with many already talking about this rumor it will be interesting to see if this the direction City Administration for Carlisle is taking. We have reached out to City Manager, Sherry Callahan, for a potential update and some validity on which direction the city is going.

Army Reserve Private First Class Elizabeth M. Williams has graduated from basic combat training at Fort Jackson, S.C.

During the nine weeks of training, Libby studies the Army mission, history, tradition and core values, physical fitness, and received instruction and practice in basic combat skills, military weapons, chemical warfare and bayonet training, drill and ceremony, marching, rifle marksmanship, armed and unarmed combat, map reading, field tactics, military courtesy, military justice system, basic first aid, foot marches, and field training exercises.

Libby is currently attending Advanced Individual Training at Fort Sam Houston, TX where she continues her studies and training to become a Combat Medic/Health Care Specialist.

Libby is the daughter of Mike and Barb Williams and sister of Katie Williams of Miami Township, Ohio. She graduated from Carlisle High School with the class of 2006. After completion of AIT Libby will return to Anderson University (Indiana) to complete her senior year of college.
